A traditional exhibition of tapestry that is held every two years in Lviv took place in june 1996. It was presented by Lviv organisation of Ukrainian Union of Artists, Lviv Regional Administration Department of Culture and Lviv Picture Gallery where the exposition was shown. Artists of different generations exhibited their works created during the last three years at the exposition. Textile works of various non-traditional and author' techniques were presented. However classic flat form dominated as ever. In spite of variety of artistic styles, some specific unity of ones could be noted . It allowed to speak about existence of L'viv School of tapestry. A considerable growth of artistic mastery of L'viv tapestry artists can be remarked at the exhibition. The exposition "Lviv Tapestry-96" was nicely exhibited. It was characterized by a high artistic level and was popular among numerous visitors.
