The Bird of Paradise dramatic studio was founded in 1995 in Lviv, Ukraine, by four artists: Tetiana Tarasenko, Ira Shcherbatenko, Igor Golikov and Alexander Ivanov. Since that time they have staged several performances in Lviv and Kyiv. They also take part in Fashion Festivals and search for their own style, experimenting with synthesis of fashion, plastics and different trends in modern music. Their works includes "Return to Venice", "Garden of Passion" and "Game" remade classic plays on eternal oppositions of love and death, freedom and violence. The style of costumes for these shows is post-modernist and add altering of up-to date fashion trends, historical costumes, architectural and design search. The favourite materials are: hand-made knitting and cocheting, stocknet, leather, frame-works, semitransparent and transparent fabrics. The shapes are architecturally-laconic with minimum of decor or on the contrary fantastically-bizarre with complicated facture and materials. The performances of the Birds of Paradise are accompanied by phonograms of famous modern musicians or by live sound of rock-groups, classical instruments or organ. The basic principal of the Birds of Paradise is stylistic eclecticism and paradox.
